Francisco M. Verano is a product of the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts who ably managed to continue his sculptural and painting careers since graduation, even as he pursued a corporate agenda. Rising from the ranks, he held various executive and management positions in advertising and later a top marketing communications position in a multinational company.
An artist of no mean creativity and versatility, he won a number of awards in painting and sculpture, did twenty-five one-man shows, and participated in more than a hundred group exhibitions to date. His expressive experimental works are based on nature and its color harmonies. His ability to capture the mood, atmosphere, feeling, and flavor of a scenery with accuracy and sensitivity makes his paintings and sculptures hard to match. His lyrical, narrative works display very credible craftsmanship and imagination. His works are in the collection of private and corporate collectors, not only in the Philippines but also in the United States, Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia. He has three grown children and lives with wife Elvie in Quezon City. Verano is one of the most distinguished members and the founding chairman of grUPo.
